Tidbits of Mission at HRC

Matthew 5 reads:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Multiple ChristCare groups and other Bible Study groups are asking a simple question, “How can we be Christ in this world through our missional life and service.  Can you imagine 35 ChristCare groups doing missional service regularly?  The community would not know what hit them!

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Did you know that Loving Stitches made 25 sweaters for Guidepost’s third world project.  13 prayer shawls were prayed and stitched for people in need.  153 hats, mittens and scarfs were made for the Homeless Shelter.  15 baby blankets were delivered to Care Net.  20 lap blankets were made for local nursing homes.  Countless squares were made from “leftover yarn” for Warm Up America.  All this by only 13 gifted knitters and those who graciously donated yarn!

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”

Every Sunday we have flowers.  Every Sunday those flowers are delivered by loving souls to our shut-ins.  Not to mention all those who go to the nursing homes to visit and sing.  serve in the prisons through Kiros, volunteer at Love INC. ,  mentor through Kids Hope, people delivering for Bed INC.  ETC.  ETC.  ETC.  The nameless serving in silence.  Christ sees and weeps with joy!!!!!

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

Community Maintenance Program.  Once a month.  Tons of people.  Transforming lives one project at a time.  What do they find?  Who do they see?  JESUS!

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will see mercy.”

This year we are sending multiple groups to proclaim Jesus’  love in word and deed.  Peru.  Dominican Republic.  Hatti.  Katrina Relief (yep, still a need and we are still going!).  Mexico.  Honduras.  Not to mention all the missionaries (some 25+) we support around the world!

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”

Did you know your children, through Sunday School and VBS, raise money, make sandwiches, make cards for shut-ins.  This is just a scratch of the surface of how our children are learning to live missional lives.  THE CHILDREN WILL LEAD US!

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

Once a month our Odyssey friends do a service project.  They have recently teamed up with a chaplain in the Middle East to provide words of encouragement, scripture booklets and other “little things” to bring a bit of Christ’s peace into the war zone.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of God.”

We have a prayer team that prays on Thursday night and throughout the week without ceasing.  They pray for everything.  They pray for you!  We also e-mail prayer requests to a group of folks who might not be able to make Thursday night, but join in this endless prayer.  Evil will not prevail over the Children of God!

I am sure I missed something that someone is doing.  Keep up the great work!  If I didn’t miss you, GET BUSY!!!!!

Until we meet again!
