Fusion: Where Life Comes Together

“In Him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:17)

Today I announce a new worship service for Hopewell.  It is built upon the tradition of Connections, Common Ground and B.I.G. Worship.  It is a youth driven service, but it will be for all people.   We are calling this worship service Fusion because it is a service that will bring many things together: young and old, ancient and modern, multi-media, dance, drama, art and preaching.  It will begin this Sunday at 6 PM followed with a pizza and hang out time for youth and for others.  I am looking forward to this.  I hope you will come and check it out.

Our desire is for our youth to have a worship experience that will complement Sunday morning in Sunday school classes.  Some of our youth worship at Gatherings and then join the groups in the church house at 10:30.  Other youth miss out on worship all together so Fusion will be a place for them to worship.

Fusion is also an opportunity to experience worship in different ways for all people.  It will be a chance for some of our creative worship leaders to put into practice some of the things they have dreamed about.  I am hoping that it is an alternative worship option for many adults and families.  We will not have children’s programming at our Fusion worship, but we hope that the style will be engaging for all ages helping, even the youngest,  connect with God in powerful ways.  It is a strong attempt to not isolate our youth as a separate church, but to integrate young and old together.

I also share with you that the expansion team has looked at building possibilities. It is not feasible to put a larger worship space on our site.  The team met last night to consider alternate possibilities for new space that is needed, but in the worship area it is clear that we need to grow by more options and not a bigger building.  Fusion is an attempt at reaching another 250 (the comfortable seating capacity of our sanctuary) through a different time and different style.

Our worship vision continues to be guided by Paul’s mission: “I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some.  I do it all for the sake of the gospel, so that I may share in its blessings.” Fusion is our latest step into that vision.  I pray that you will step with us this Sunday and invite a friend to a new way of worshipping God.

Yours in Faith,

Taylor
