A Christmas Gift

“Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation, sing all ye citizens of heaven above.”

The message of Christmas is carried in the music and the music of the message is carried by our choir.  On Christmas Eve, we have four services and more people come into our sanctuary than on any other day of the year.  The 6:30 PM and 8:30 PM services have the chancel choir at the center, and the joy of the gospel is carried by them.  I am hoping that this Christmas and in the Advent season we will have a great number of people who will sing in the choir. You may decide to sing just for this season, or you may find your voice to be a part of the choir for the rest of the year.

Included in the announcements for this Sunday is an invitation to join the chancel choir for Advent and Christmas.  That journey starts this Thursday evening and the first Sunday of Advent, which is the first Sunday of December.  It has been tougher and tougher to get members for the chancel choir as we have differing opportunities for worship in different styles and as schedules demand more of our time.  It is also true that people are singing in groups less and less.  Many people have not had the experience of singing parts or sacred music.  Our Foundations service is built upon a strong choir that lead people in worship.  If we are missing that, a great deal is missing in our worship.

I am asking you to share a Christmas gift this year and join the choir on Thursday night for the next four weeks.  Help to make this Advent and the two middle Christmas Eve services a season to remember.  What a gift you give, if you help all of us sing together: Joy to the world, the Lord is come!

In Christmas Hope,

Here is the announcement from Wes Joseph:

Join the Choir for Christmas: The Chancel Choir would like to invite anyone interested in singing with us for Christmas Eve to join us at our rehearsals starting November 29th. We will rehearse from 7:00-8:00 PM on Thursdays, December 6th and 13th, and from 7:00-9:00 on Thursdays November 29th and December 20th and sing at the 6:30 and 8:30 services on Christmas Eve.
