Marathon Men

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us,  looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.  (Hebrews 12:1-2)

You will be the cloud of witnesses that support the four pastors running the race that is set before them.  Next Saturday, Mark Mast, Steve Dambra, Warren Jee and I will all be running the Hartford Marathon.  We are running to raise funds for Odyssey.  Our goal is $15,000.  We want the cloud of witnesses to be with us in thoughts and prayers, but we also want you to be with us in your pocketbooks.

We have received a generous donation from a marathon man who knows that the challenge is in the training.  He pledged one dollar of support for every mile run in training during September.  We have received many other donations as we prepare.  We are looking for many more gifts this next week as we head to the starting line.

My Achilles is aching and I not sure what to expect in my first marathon.  Mark is in great shape and is not weighing himself until after the race to determine how much weight he has lost on this journey.  Steve has stickers for 13.1 and 26.2 on the back of his Rav4 that lay claim to the many marathons he has run. Warren is used to running fifty five miles, so a marathon will be a jog in the park for him.  We all appreciate your support.

If you have not donated yet, you can do so by credit card or you can send a check to HRC 143 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction NY 12533 and write- Odyssey Marathon- on the bottom.  Pray without ceasing for those five hours on Saturday and we hope to live to tell about it on Sunday, October 12.

Thanks for your prayers and financial support,
