An Altar Call

“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” (James 1:27)

James is the classic challenge of “don’t talk the talk if you don’t walk the walk.”  This Sunday James will challenge us to get out of the pew and into the world.  Debbie Ball and Beds INC (In the Name of Christ) will give us the opportunity to do that.

At the end of the message where James contrasts “worthless religion” that does not bridle the tongue and pure religion that cares for orphans and widows in their distress, each of us will have an opportunity to act.  We will have an altar call!  There will be beds spread throughout the fellowship hall; each will have an envelope that has an address and the number of people in a family.  (The name of the family will be inside the envelope as Love INC is conscious of keeping clients as anonymous as possible.)  If you have a truck or vehicle that can carry beds, bring it. If you are willing to go out and deliver beds with somebody else, hop on board.

This will be a day when we do not just talk about religion, we will be living faith.  I hope you will help.  It is simple to set up a frame and put the bed on the frame.  We then ask you to pray with the family who receives the bed.   If you are coming with a truck, please contact Debbie Ball using the form at the end of this Touché   If you are willing to help you can also let her know.

We have many families who are in need, and we want to use this one day of service to cover all the people who Love INC has determined are in need of beds.  If you are unable to deliver beds, my challenge is to find some way to bless someone in need on Sunday.  We do not want our faith to be talk without walk.

In His Service,

Taylor
