Together in One Place

“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.”  (Acts 2:1)

The start of the story of the early church begins when they are together in one place and the Spirit comes with tongues of fire.  The start of our ministry year begins this Sunday when we are all together in one place.  We will be gathered in the center of our community at the East Fishkill Recreation Center to lift up praise to God, hear God’s word and enjoy each other.  Will you pray that the Spirit will be poured out on this day, and poured out on our year of ministry?  Odyssey will be dancing, Steve Dambra will be praying, Pure Joy will be singing, Karen Shogren will be sharing, I will be preaching and we will all be eating (fried chicken for a change this year).  It will be a great day.

I have really enjoyed worship this summer at Hopewell as we have blended out styles and been together in one place.  People who go to different services have seen each other and celebrated.  It has been a joy.  As we move back to two services at Hopewell and one service at Odyssey, we pray that the unity celebrated on Sunday is carried throughout our year.  It is love through the Spirit that binds us together and is expressed in worship.

I hope that you will invite a friend.  It will be a great celebration and those who may be far from God or far from the church will find it a comfortable day to “stick their toes in the water.”  We worship at 10:30 and you are invited to bring a salad or dessert.  Your friends are welcome to come as they are.  Bring a chair to sit in and we will be all set.

Thanks to all of you who responded to our offering to help with Hurricane Harvey relief.  We raised over $5,000 last Sunday.  You may still give if you wish through our website or with a check.  Just note that it goes for Harvey relief.  Pray that we do not need to take up an offering for Irma relief as well.

I look forward to seeing you “all together” on Sunday.  I am looking for the ways that the Spirit will join with us.

Grace and Peace,

Taylor
