Adult Sunday School Class begins October 1

Adult Sunday School Class, Sundays 8:45 – 9:45 AM

Exodus: Learning to Trust God

As we study the book of Exodus, we will see that Israel faced a constant struggle to trust God completely. In this story of hardship and hope, you’ll discover along with Israel that God–and God alone–is worthy of our trust. Please join us for an exciting journey into the history of God’s chosen people as they move from bondage toward the promised land.

The class will be a 24 week course that will cover two major themes:

Part 1: Liberating God’s People
Part 2: Teaching God’s People

Class Start: Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017
Class Ends: Sunday, Mar. 25, 2018

Ridder-A Journey of Personal and Congregational Transformation

“And in the spirit he carried me away to a great, high mountain and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God.”  (Revelation 21:10)

I went back to the mountain this week; Hunter Mountain, where the vision of Ridder church renewal has unfolded.  This has been a two and a half year process that has affected me deeply and has led to personal transformation in my life.  I believe Read more »

Alpha

Alpha is starting Easter week, April 20 and running through the week of June 15. Alpha includes an engaging video presentation each week and a chance to meet and discuss in a small group. Alpha is for everyone; those looking for Jesus, those looking to make sense of him in their lives, and those looking to introduce others to him. Alpha groups will be meeting Wednesday evenings, Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons, as well as during some ChristCare groups.

Books Needed

One of our ChristCare groups is reading Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life. They are looking for used copies of this book.  If you have one to donate, please leave it at the kiosk on Sunday.

 Get A Move On!

This Sunday we will ordain three leaders (Steve Shenkman, Mason Johnson and Bruce Smith) into their ministries as elder and deacon.  The agenda for their leadership will be developed by what is happening in the REVEAL process.  We will begin the church-wide phase of looking at the results for the next four weeks.  Read more »

“Does Sunday School Matter?”

If kids go to Sunday school does it have any effect on their lives? If teenagers go to Sunday school, does it have any effect on their lives? For that matter, if these kids and teens go to church or Youth Group does it matter?

Let me ask the question another way? Is it worth my effort as a parent to get my kids to church, SS, youth group on a regular basis?

Well, I suspect you know where I am going with this, but let me qualify my answer. Read more »

As you know, I had the opportunity last Wednesday night and Sunday morning to lead us in a class and sermon called, “The Bible Happens.” This is a way of looking at the scriptures to see how they speak to our lives, regardless of how much we do or don’t know about the history and culture of Biblical times. “An Invitation and a Story”

The Invitation
How has the issue of homosexuality affected you, personally? Most of us can talk about a family member, a friend, a situation, that has affected how we think about this issue. Some of us have had our beliefs challenged by these stories. This will be the emphasis of our discussions this Wednesday night, April 22, when we begin the Homosexuality Dialogues. Some of you have told me that you will be there. Thanks. Read more »
